Sandoz, a Novartis division, is the pioneer and global leader in biosimilar medicines, and the first pharmaceutical company to receive approval of a biosimilar in Europe, Japan, and the United States. Sandoz currently has two biosimilar medicines approved in the US. The company has the leading biosimilar pipeline and plans to launch several biosimilars of major oncology and immunology biologics over the next few years.

Growth mind-set - how I unlock my career potential
Having grown up in China in the 1970s, she did not have the best starting conditions for an international management career. But today, Joy Jinghui Xu is Global Head of HR (CHRO) at Sandoz/Novartis and has previously worked for a number of large multinational companies in various industries and countries on three continents. Her vocation: to inspire other women and leaders with the growth mindset that has accompanied her throughout her own successful career.

Vita: Joy Xu was appointed Head of Global Human Resources, Sandoz (CHRO) on October 15, 2015. Joy is a member of the Sandoz Executive Committee (SEC) and the Novartis HR Executive Leadership Team (HRELT). She is responsible for leading the Sandoz global HR strategy and organization and driving our ambitious people and culture agenda while operationalizing Novartis HR Strategy. Functional areas of responsibility include Talent Management, Organization Development, Organization Design, Leadership Succession, Diversity & Inclusion, High Performing Culture and High Performing Team, Training & Recruitment, employee relations. Joy has 23 years of experience in roles of increasing leadership seniority within HR. She has worked eleven years with Procter & Gamble and ten years with PepsiCo, living and working in the US, China, Dubai and Hong Kong. Prior to Sandoz, Joy was Senior Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer, Asia Pacific Region, PepsiCo. Before that, she had served as PepsiCo's Vice President, Talent Sustainability, Asia and Middle East & Africa, based in Dubai, UAE, where she led the talent management, organization development, Diversity & Inclusion and culture development in 90 markets. Under Joy’s leadership, she and her team won various internal and external awards and recognitions. Joy was also named as one of Global Rising Stars by Global Women Forum in 2007/2008. Joy graduated from South China University of Technology as BA in English.
