terahertz.NRW is a network of Fraunhofer FHR, University Duisburg-Essen, Ruhr-Uni Bochum, Fraunhofer IMS and University Wuppertal funded by the state of NRW for excellent terahertz research for communication, localization, material characterization, medical technology & environmental monitoring. The central goal is to tap the disruptive potential of miniaturized electronic and photonic THz circuits, in which the 5 network partners are among the world leaders, for new mobile applications. Examples are mobile devices for skin cancer diagnosis in pen form and sensors integrated in cell phones for virus, bacteria and gas analysis.
