Vita: Julia is an industrial engineer, cooling technology inventor and CEO at Coolar, a company pioneering heat-driven,100% water-based cooling systems. With her team she built and deployed the Coolar off-grid medical refrigerator that can enable electricity-independent cold storage for life-saving vaccines and medicines in regions without reliable electricity where clinics serving over one billion people worldwide struggle to provide access to medicines that need reliable cooling.

In addition to her career as an entrepreneur and inventor, Julia is passionate about environmental advocacy and has served on the board of BUND e. V. (Friends of the Earth Germany, the country’s largest environmental NGO) for over nine years, among other activities.

Due to her leadership in pushing for sustainability and innovation she was chosen to advise the federal government of Germany on innovation policy as a member of the Hightech-Forum 2019-201, i.e. promoting new legislation on tax benefits for R&D activities, as well as government support for social entrepreneurship and innovation.
