Agota Lavoyer
Social worker and author specialising in gender-specific and sexualised violenceShe is an independent consultant, speaker and political activist
Agota Lavoyer, born in 1981, is a social worker and author who specialises in gender-specific and sexualised violence. As a counsellor and head of victim support centres in Bern and Solothurn, she has supported and accompanied countless victims of sexualised violence and their families. She has experienced first-hand the serious consequences of society’s trivialisation of sexualised violence, the stigmatisation of those affected and the frequent exoneration of the perpetrators.
Today, Lavoyer works as an independent consultant, speaker and political activist and is committed to socio-political change and a rethink, to better support for victims of sexualised violence in society as a whole, as well as in the justice system and for contemporary prevention of sexualised violence. She teaches at various universities and universities of applied sciences, offers further training in companies, organisations and law enforcement agencies, supports projects as an expert and works as an external confidential counsellor in cases of sexual harassment in the workplace.
Agota Lavoyer has become known to a wide audience in Switzerland through numerous interviews in newspapers, radio and television. She is also considered to be the facilitator of the revision of Swiss sexual criminal law in 2023. In recent years, she has published three standard works on these topics: the children’s reference book ‘Ist das okay?’ on the prevention of sexualised violence against children, ‘Jede_ Frau’ and most recently ‘Ermutigt.’, a handbook for those affected by sexualised violence.
