Christine Laudenbach is a behavioural economist and Professor of Finance at Goethe University Frankfurt and heads the Household Finance department at the Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE. She researches the financial decisions of private households, financial education and the causes of low participation in capital markets and has published her work in renowned journals. A particular focus of her work is on the role of gender stereotypes in financial contexts.

Its central concern: Empowering people to handle money independently and confidently – through early, understandable and inclusive financial education. Because financial freedom means more than having enough money: it enables self-determination, participation and new ways of life.
Laudenbach is Chairwoman of Behavioural Finance e.V., which promotes research into increasing financial decision-making skills and specifically supports young academics. She is co-author of the book ‘Die genial einfache Vermögensstrategie’ (Campus), which translates scientific findings into a practical investment strategy and became a manager magazin bestseller. Together with renowned researchers, she publicises research findings and was part of the founding team of the Arero World Fund, among others.

In 2024, her contribution appeared in the Spiegel bestseller ‘Zukunft im Widerspruch’ (Campus), which opens up new perspectives on security, AI, sustainability, education and financial culture. She was honoured by Capital as one of the ‘Top 40 under 40’ for her work.

Her aim is to demystify financial knowledge, break down stereotypes and encourage more people to take responsibility for their own finances – not someday, but now.
