Romy Stangl
Human rights activist, columnist, author, board member of One Billion Rising München e.V.Advisory board member of Presseclub München e.V.
Romy Stangl is a human rights activist and writes columns for HeyDay Magazine – an online magazine for women 40+ who have both feet on the ground, keep their heads in the clouds and don’t let ageing limit them. The magazine provides inspiration, ideas and portraits of women who make the most of everything life has to offer. In her texts, she writes about courage, equality, new narratives beyond traditional role models and personal empowerment.
She is a co-author of the books “Nachkommen – wenn Töchter ihren Müttern schreiben” by Wiebke Dierks and “Das habe ich noch nie gemacht – das wird gut” by Dr. Claudia Richter (link). On November 25, 2025, “(Un)ERHÖRT – Frauen reden über häusliche Gewalt will be published, in which she is co-editor – a polyphonic work about the silence that needs to be broken together.
As a board member of One Billion Rising München e.V., she is committed to a non-violent, self-determined life for women and girls. In addition to the annual dance demo on 14 February, she and her fellow campaigners organize campaigns such as “Gewalt kommt nicht in die Tüte”, readings on topics that move women, online formats for nationwide networking and collaborations with media, art and social initiatives. As a speaker on gender-specific violence, she is present on podiums and with lectures throughout Germany and brings the topic to the center of society.
She has been an advisory board member of Presseclub München e.V. since 2024, focusing on gender equality in the media and strengthening female voices in public discourse.
Her main job is in the financial administration in the public sector. As Equal Opportunities Officer at Haar City Council, Romy Stangl focuses on issues such as family- and care-friendly working models that meet the needs of men and women equally, as well as increasing the proportion of women in top management positions.
With her petition for the appointment of councils for victims of domestic violence at state and federal level, she is committed to effectively incorporating the perspectives of survivors of domestic violence into political processes, legislation, the implementation of the Istanbul Convention and into protection, support and prevention structures.
She is currently also involved as a volunteer with the Stiftung Gewaltfreie Kindheit (Violence-Free Childhood Foundation) and supports the Bavaria ruft campaign – a cross-party initiative to promote women in local politics.
