Judith Gerlach is Bavaria’s Minister of Digital Affairs. She has been leading the Bavarian State Ministry of Digital Affairs since its creation in November 2018. As the first Minister of Digital Affairs in Germany, she is responsible for expanding digital services for citizens and businesses. The minister also represents the state towards the federal government, for example in the IT Planning Council. Under her leadership, the Bavarian Ministry of Digital Affairs has invested more than 70 million euros in digitizing administration. Gerlach stands for a technology-neutral, value-oriented digital policy that protects the interests of citizens. As the youngest cabinet member at 36 years old, the minister represents the concerns of the younger generation. In 2021, she was named one of Germany’s “Top 40 under 40” by the leading business newspaper Capital.
