After her newspaper traineeship, Elke Schneiderbanger gained experience as a presenter, editor and chief editor at various radio stations and as a television presenter at Bayerischer Rundfunk, SAT.1 and ZDF. In 1996, she joined radio NRW and took over the duties of managing director and programme director. Since June 2010, Elke Schneiderbanger has been responsible as Managing Director of ARD MEDIA GmbH.

In addition to her work as managing director, Elke Schneiderbanger holds various mandates in the field of genre work. Since 2011/2012, she has been a member of the AGMA working committee for the genre of television, and she also represents ARD MEDIA on the AGF supervisory board and in the AGF shareholders’ meeting. Since 2011, she has also been a member of the advisory board of the German Radio Prize and the Radiozentrale.
